Fido's Thanksgiving

It is so hard to resist sharing turkey dinner with those big brown puppy dog eyes staring at you. If you can’t resist, try lean cooked turkey meat, mash potatoes without the fatty gravy, and vegetables without the butter, garlic or onions.  Or try Merrick's Thanksgiving Day Dinner dog food.  Avoid giving Fido sweets or fatty foods as they can cause and upset stomach and diarrhea. Never feed Fido turkey bones as they tend to shatter or sliver and can get stuck in the back of Fido’s throat or stomach.  Always avoid feeding any side dish that contains raw garlic or onions.  Garlic and onions contain a toxin that can cause anemia.  In the case that Fido does get into something he/she shouldn’t, always know where your emergency animal hospital is located and hours of operation during the holiday. 

Now that Fido is enjoying a smart and healthy Thanksgiving dinner, here are a few tips to a healthier and thinner holiday for you… Get active and burn off extra calories before indulging in your favorite foods.  Don’t skip breakfast.  Starting your day off with a small but satisfying breakfast will help you control your appetite throughout the day.  Keep your portions to reasonable size.  Don’t fill your plate with foods you can have all year long and keep to only those that come around once a year.  Keep a mindset of weight maintenance instead of weight loss during the holiday season.

Everyone Wants To Be A Superhero

For those of us who were kids in the late 70s, who could forget their first Underoos.  My sister and I spent countless hours running around the house fighting crime in our matching Wonder Woman Underoos.  Now as adults we dress up as our favorite super hero for Halloween or make a fashion statement with a vintage inspired tshirt.  Even Fido can get his super power on in a bentley B tee (a little self promo) made from recycled and vintage human tshirts.       

Let It Snow

Thanks to a friend, who has a friend who works for Columbia Sportswear Company, I purchased a new winter coat at a killer of a deal.  Pair my new Columbia Whirliwind jacket with a pair of UGG Australia Belcloud Boots and bring on the snow.

Now that I am ready, it is time to get Bentley ready to make some yellow snow…his favorite when playing in the snow.  Our go to for extreme winter wear is Ruff Wear.  What started as a drawing on a napkin with one human and one dog has now turned into 20 person/25 dog team that is designing some of the best extreme winter wear for dogs.  Our favorite picks include the Cloud Chaser storm-ready soft shell jacket and the Bark’n Boots Polar Trex that provides winter traction and insulation to keep paws dry and warm.  For less extreme winter weather, our favorite picks are the Climate Changer Fleece Jacket and Bark’n Boots Grip Trex all-condition, all-terrain and all-season.  These boots are inspired by human shoes and have a high performance Vibram sole.

In Living Style

The creative humor of Italian designer Marco Morosini puts “brilliant and beautiful” into his collection of dog houses.  The collection is truly a tongue-in-check masterpiece with ceramic wallpapered and carpeted trailers to fur lined traveling dog suitcases to dog in a glass box.  I am thinking the trailer for Bentley. 

The End of a Fashion Era

One of our favorite fashionistas Kate Moss launched her final full collection for Topshop.  Kate’s AW10 Collection is full of 70s inspired looks, luxurious party dresses and includes three new collections that will have any fashionista inspired.  Kate Iconic pulls ten sell-out pieces from the past 14 collections, while One In is an amazing collection of six limited edition pieces with less than 100 being made of each.  Kate’s debut collection of vintage inspired cocktails rings are a must have this season.       

Will this be the end of Kate’s relationship with the high street retailer?  Sir Philip Green has made no secret that he intends to continue a working relationship with this British style icon.  Word on the street is that Kate is looking to create a lingerie line for the retailer...we can’t wait.
