A really good reason not to share your box of chocolates…
Chocolate is toxic and can be fatal for your pooch. Cacao beans contain theobromine that can stimulate the central nervous and cardiovascular system and increase heart rate and blood pressure in animals. There is no specific antidote for theobromine toxicity. Treatment is supportive and may include IV fluid, induce vomiting, use of activated charcoal or in more serious cases anti-seizure and/or cardiac medication to reduce tremors and regulate heart rates. Signs of chocolate toxicity are most commonly seen within 12 hours or less. Signs of chocolate toxicity include:
• Excitement, nervousness and trembling
• Vomiting and diarrhea
• Excessive thirst and urination
• Muscle spasms and seizures
• Coma and death

Who doesn't love a cupcake?

If you pup loves carrots, they will love this carrot cake dog cupcake with cheese cream icing. Can we get a ruff ruff!


Cupcake Ingredients:
• 2 cups shredded carrots
• 3 eggs
• 1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
• 2 tsp cinnamon
• 3 cups whole wheat flour

Cupcake Instructions:
• Preheat oven to 350° F
• Lightly spray cups of muffin tin.
• In a large bowl stir together the carrots, eggs and applesauce. Set aside.
• In another medium bowl whisk together the cinnamon, oats and flour.
• Slowly mix in the dry ingredients. Stir until well blended.
• Spoon mixture into muffin tin. The dough will be thick, so you may wet your fingers to press the dough into place.
• The dog cupcake will not rise very much, so do not worry about over filling the muffin tin.
• Bake for 25 minutes.
• Cool completely on a wire rack before frosting or serving.

Frosting Ingredients:
• 8 oz low fat cream cheese, softened
• 1/4 cup applesauce, unsweetened

Frosting Instructions:
• Blend both ingredients with a hand mixer until well blended.
• Spoon into a pastry bag for easy decorating.

Storing: These dog cupcakes will keep fresh in your refrigerator for 2 weeks. You can freeze them for up to 2 months. If you are going to freeze them, do not decorate with the frosting until they have thawed.

Fido’s New Year Resolutions

1. I will eat less and exercise more

2. I will recognize the difference between furniture and fire hydrants when looking for the perfect place to relieve myself

3. I will introduce myself in more appropriate ways by trying not to invade human’s private parts

4. I will bark less at the mailman that I have know my whole life

5. I will try not to steal food if it is difficult and out of reach, I can’t promise I will not steal if it is easy to snatch

6. I will reserve using my puppy dog eyes when begging for worthwhile things

7. I will try to remember the garbage is not a large version of my treat jar

Most Influential In Fashion

The voting results are in! Refinery 29 names Janie Bryant, costume designer for Mad Men, as the most influential person in fashion.  Not since Patricia Field, stylist for Sex and the City, has a TV costume designer had such influence over our wardrobes and closets…but who is complaining.  We love Bryant’s style of elegance and glamour of the 50s and 60s not only in Mad Med but in the launch of her Janie Bryant MOD collection for QVC in September.
