A few of our favorite airline approved pet carrier...
A few travel tips if flying by plane this holiday season…
· Make sure your pet is properly identified. His collar and ID tag should have current contact information. It is not a bad idea to also include your final destination contact information. Invest in a microchip extra identification and protection.
· Ease your pet’s stress by having them travel in their kennel. Make sure their kennel is the appropriate size. They should be able to stand and turn around easily.
· After being inspected at the airport, it is good to secure your pet’s kennel with a zip tie if flying in cargo.
· Tape a photo of your pet to the kennel and keep a photo with you.
· Whenever possible, try to book direct flights and inform the flight attendant you have a pet in the cargo if they are not traveling in the cabin with you.
· Avoid traveling with pets that are too young, fragile or sick to travel.
· Take copies of vaccination records in case of emergency. These documents will also be required when traveling by plane.
· Double check your airline for any special requirements when traveling with your pet in cargo or in the cabin.
· Keep a leash with you, especially if flying with your pet in the cabin. Airport security screeners will ask for you to remove your pet from its travel carrier.
